Ocean Avalon
Ocean Avalon San Francisco, California
Avalon Ocean Avenue is a mixed-use residential and commercial development in the Balboa Park neighborhood of San Francisco. This transit-oriented development is served by improved light rail and bus service along Ocean Avenue, as well as by the nearby Balboa Park BART station. The Ocean campus of the City College of San Francisco and the Ingleside branch of the San Francisco public library are immediately adjacent. Street-level retail includes a Whole Foods Market.
A pedestrian-oriented streetscape has been created along Ocean Avenue. Brighton Street extends into the development as an active "Woonerf" curbless street, with a raised terrace area that includes concrete seat walls and other pedestrian amenities. The street provides vehicles access to underground parking structures. Podium courtyards create communal and private outdoor space for residents, with raised concrete planter boxes and a variety of fixed and movable seating.
