Jeffrey Miller,  ASLA, LEED AP is the principal and founder of Miller Company, a licensed landscape architect and landscape contractor with over thirty-five years of experience designing and building. 

Under his leadership Miller Company is engaged with campus master planning for corporate and educational environments, urban park planning and design, multi-family urban housing. He is recognized as a leader and expert in the realm of green schoolyard design and development.

Committed to the idea that landscape architecture is a powerful vehicle for addressing community needs, Miller has spent much of his career working with neighborhood groups, schools, and service organizations designing landscapes that naturally enhance and support the social context in ways that strengthen the potential for delightful, open, and safe interaction. A past president of the community gardening organization, SLUG (San Francisco League of Urban Gardeners), he continues to successfully engage community groups in the landscape design process.  

Under his direction, Miller Company has provided numerous pro-bono design solutions for community projects creating native and edible and recreational gardens in formerly abandoned urban spaces. Jeffrey has collaborated with artists to create expressive landscape environments in the context of health care facilities, art centers, libraries, and inner city environments.

In addition to working to realize community values, Miller innovates strategies for constructed sustainability in all of his projects. He is well versed in the evolving palette of green construction materials and the feasibility of reusing existing site materials.  

Jeffrey has lectured widely highlighting design strategies targeting the reduction of potable water in the landscape as well as innovative solutions for the capture and use of storm water. Known for his “hands on” involvement in the implementation of Miller Company designs he is committed to the idea that it is important to be present at the moment when a design becomes a physical reality. It is quite common to see Jeffrey working hand in hand with contractors to implement Miller Company designs.
